From December 11 to 13, 2024, the Ice-and-Snow Economy Themed Exhibition in Liaoning hosted by the Department of Commerce of Liaoning Province was successfully held in Shenyang. Leveraging the rich ice-and-snow resources in Liaoning and the opportunity of hosting the 15th National Winter Games, the Ice-and-Snow Economy Themed Exhibition comprehensively showcased the achievements of the entire ice-and-snow economy industrial chain covering ice-and-snow equipment, ice-and-snow sports, ice-and-snow tourism, and ice-and-snow culture, etc. Wang Jian, a member of the Standing Committee of People’s Congress of Liaoning Province and Vice Governor of Liaoning Province, along with guests from more than 20 countries including South Korea, Germany, France, and friends from Hong Kong and Macao, visited the Exhibition. 

  The Exhibition set up an exhibition area themed on the ice-and-snow economy, a must-visit area featuring ice-and-snow economy atmosphere, and a promotion area for the ice-and-snow economy. The Exhibition systematically unfolded the overall development of the ice-and-snow economy in Liaoning and uniquely spotlighted the distinct features of the ice-and-snow economy of the 14 cities in Liaoning. Through immersive simulation experiences, hands-on physical interactions, and video demonstrations, it vividly illustrated Liaoning’s differentiated advantages of "warm snow and warm winter" from every conceivable angle. Furthermore, it crafted the innovative scenarios for ice-and-snow consumption, integrating "ice-and-snow fun for everyone, hot spring relaxation for all, and rich folk custom experiences". In this way, it vividly presented a booming market where a series of themed activities "diverse winter experiences" in Liaoning are gaining popularity. 

  More than 60 domestic and foreign enterprises related to ice-and-snow economy participated in the Exhibition. More than 200 key projects of ice-and-snow economy and more than 100 types of ice-and-snow economy physical exhibits were displayed in the Exhibition. 

  In terms of the ice-and-snow equipment, the Exhibition comprehensively displayed the advances of ice-and-snow sports facilities, ice-and-snow gear, ice-and-snow apparel and other ice-and-snow equipment. Regarding the key ice-and-snow equipment enterprises in Liaoning, engaged in the Exhibition were Shenyang Feihang Ice-Snow Equipment Co., Ltd, Liaoning Dongti Sports Wood Flooring Co., Ltd, Jinzhou Unical Tyre Co., Ltd and so on. Concerning the ice-and-snow apparel enterprises, involved in the Exhibition were Dandong River Garment Co., Ltd, Liaoning Feimat Industrial Co., Ltd, Liaoyang Tina Hat Manufacturing Co., Ltd and so on. Particularly, the European and American enterprises exhibited their advanced ice-and-snow equipment, including snowmaking system by Italian TechnoAlpin Group, ropeway mobility by Poma, snow groomers by German Kässbohrer, and cable cars by Austrian Doppelmayr. 

  In terms of ice-and-snow sports, the Exhibition took the opportunity of the upcoming 15th National Winter Games that will be held in Liaoning to fully showcase the progress of major projects such as Shenyang Wangjiawan Ice Sports Center and Fushun Longgangshan Ski Resort. Also, the Exhibition presented the development of national and provincial ski resorts in Liaoning, such as Shenyang Qipanshan Ice-and-Snow World, Dalian Anbo Resort, and Dandong Tianqiaogou Ski Resort. Moreover, the Exhibition introduced the stunning ice-and-snow events and competitions held by Liaoning, including China's Northernmost Coastline Ice Ridge Crossing Challenge, the National Ice Fishing Invitational Tournament, and the International Ice Sailing Circuit, to name but a few. 

  In terms of ice-and-snow consumption, the Exhibition intensively showcased the "ice-and-snow plus hot spring" consumption scenarios upgraded from the well-known hot spring projects in Liaoning, such as Benxi Brookside Maple-Snow Soak Hot Spring Town, Liaoyang Gongchangling Hot Spring Ski Resort, and Yingkou Xiongyue Tianmu Hot Spring. The Exhibition also presented featured "ice-and-snow plus festival" scenarios, including the lantern festival, the ice-play festival, the snow-play festival, and the winter fishing festival. In addition, the Exhibition displayed Liaoning's special ice-and-snow consumer goods, like Northeast-style glutinous rice dumplings, candied haws, frozen pears, Zhongjie Daguo ice cream, and the national gift "purple clay teapots" for the Winter Olympics. 

  In terms of ice-and-snow tourism, the Exhibition skillfully blended ice-and-snow tourism with coastal tourism, hot spring tourism, ice-and-snow sports tourism, sports-culture tourism, rural tourism, red tourism, and shopping-based tourism. It served as a fascinating showcase of the ice-and-snow tourist goods in the areas, including the Shenyang Modern Metropolitan Area, the Liaoning Coastal Economic Belt, the Pilot Zone of Western Liaoning and the Green Economic Zone of Eastern Liaoning. 

  In the next step, the Department of Commerce of Liaoning Province will strive to boost the vitality of the ice-and-snow economy, explore to build a comprehensive platform for the exhibition and display of the ice-and-snow economy, and create a vibrant ice-and-snow consumption atmosphere in Liaoning. The Department will center on the development characteristics of the entire industrial chain of Liaoning's ice-and-snow economy, attract market-oriented entities to participate in the exhibition through multiple channels, upgrade and build the iconic themed exhibition of Liaoning's ice-and-snow economy. Relying on the platform of the Exhibition, the Department will advance a development agenda of the integrated model of "ice-and-snow plus equipment, sports, tourism, and culture", and contribute to building Liaoning into a strong province in the ice-and-snow economy.
