An Introductory Overview of PanjinCity
Nestled within the vibrant Liaohe River Delta, Panjin emerged onto the urban landscape in 1984. Encompassing an expanse of 4062.3 square kilometers, the city accommodates a permanent populace of 1.39 million residents. It is renowned as the gateway to China's "northernmost coastline," beckoning as a superior hub for investment and progressive development initiatives.
Panjin, known as the "City of Petrochemicals," has emerged and thrived on the backbone of its abundant oil resources. Serving as the headquarters of the Liaohe Oilfield, it has maintained consistent oil and gas production, totaling millions of tons annually, for an impressive 37-year stretch. Capitalizing on its rich oil and gas reserves, we have vigorously driven the growth of both the petrochemical and fine chemical industries. Esteemed enterprises like VICTREX from the United Kingdom, LyondellBasell from the United States, and Clariant from Switzerland have chosen Panjin as their home. Several multi-billion-dollar projects have been initiated, including the fine chemicals and raw materials engineering project with a total investment of 83.7 billion yuan, alongside the development of a Liaohe gas storage facility cluster, representing a combined investment of 47.5 billion yuan. Panjin is progressing towards its ambition of becoming a pivotal national hub for petrochemical and fine chemical industries. Presently, it boasts a crude oil processing capacity of 34.8 million tons per year, ethylene production capacity of 1.5 million tons per year, synthetic resin production capacity of 2.6 million tons per year, halogenated butyl rubber production capacity of 105,000 tons per year, and ABS production capacity of 201,000 tons per year.
Panjin is rapidly emerging as a pivotal port city, leveraging its considerable port advantages. PanjinPort holds prestigious titles including being designated as a national first-class port, a supervised site for imported grains, and a comprehensive pilot zone for cross-border e-commerce. A modern transportation hub is taking shape at PanjinPort, boasting 28 completed berths capable of accommodating vessels exceeding 50,000 tons, with an additional 9 berths under construction for vessels ranging from 50,000 to 300,000 tons. Furthermore, we've established 16 direct container shipping routes and 23 foreign trade routes, with an impressive annual throughput capacity of 70 million tons. Currently underway is the construction of a specialized 300,000-ton "oil terminal," complemented by plans for deepwater channel projects. The Jinzhou-Panjin and Yingkou-Panjin oil pipelines ensure efficient transport of crude oil and petroleum products.
Panjin is celebrated as the "City of Wetlands." Encompassing various wetland ecosystems spanning 2496 square kilometers, extending far beyond rice paddies, Panjin boasts a protected wetland area covering 1240 square kilometers. This vast expanse serves as a sanctuary for 315 bird species, including the iconic Red-crowned Crane and Larus saundersi, seeking refuge and breeding grounds. Panjin is adorned with remarkable natural marvels, such as the unparalleled RedBeach and the world's largest pristine reed marsh. Bestowed with the prestigious title of "InternationalWetlandCity," Panjin is leveraging its abundant ecological wetland resources to establish itself as a globally renowned hub for eco-friendly leisure tourism.
