An Introductory Overview of TielingCity
Tieling, the northern gateway of LiaoningProvince, stands out as a city with a wealth of historical and cultural heritage, abundant agricultural resources, a strong industrial foundation, and immense development potential. Encompassing an area of 13,000 square kilometers, Tieling is composed of two districts, three counties, and two cities, along with one national-level economic and technological development zone, boasting a permanent population of 2.39 million.
Tieling is located south of Shenyang and borders on Jilin Province and Inner Mongolia, serveing as a vital gateway from Heilongjiang Province, Jilin Province, and eastern Inner Mongolia to China's interior and ports. Positioned as a pivotal city along the economic axis of the "Shenyang-Dalian-Harbin-Changchun" corridor in Northeast China, the city is crisscrossed by major transportation arteries including National Highway 102, and the Beijing-Harbin and Harbin-Dalian high-speed railways & expressways. It is conveniently situated just an hour's drive from Shenyang Taoxian International Airport, 290 kilometers from Yingkou Port, and 430 kilometers from DalianPort. High-speed rail services connect Tieling to Shenyang in 18 minutes, Changchun in 1 hour, and Harbin and Dalian in 2 hours.
Tieling boasts abundant agricultural resources, situated within the "World Golden Corn Belt" at the 42nd parallel north. With a cultivated area of 9.94 million mu (about 662,667 hectares), all comprised of fertile black soil, it is among the first nationally designated demonstration cities for environmental-friendly agriculture and a major national base for marketable grain production. Renowned as the "granary," "meat and milk storehouse," and "vegetable basket" of Liaoning Province, Tieling has attracted renowned enterprises such as Yihai Kerry Group, Muyuan Group, Jiusan Group, and Maotai Group. It has developed an integrated green and organic food and deep processing industrial chain that integrates primary, secondary, and tertiary industries. With nearly a hundred large-scale agricultural product processing enterprises, we strive to build Tieling as a nationally recognized modern agricultural demonstration zone.
Tieling is rich in coal and electric power resources, making it the largest thermal coal production base in Liaoning Province and earning the reputation of being an "EnergyCity." It is home to Liaoning Tiefa Energy Co., Ltd., a significant national coal base, alongside Tiefa Energy Group, Tieling Power Plant, Qinghe Power Plant, and Diaobingshan Coal Gangue Power Plant. In recent years, the burgeoning development of new energy industries like wind power and biomass power generation has further solidified its position as a vital energy supply hub in Northeast China.
Tieling boasts a robust industrial foundation, strategically positioned for high-quality development along the "Shenyang-Dalian-Harbin-Changchun" industrial economic axis, flanking both sides of the 102 National Road and the Harbin-Dalian Expressway. Covering an area of 304 square kilometers, this development initiative has resulted in the establishment of one national-level economic and technological development zone and seven provincial-level economic development zones, all serving as key industrial parks.
The Tieling Economic and Technological Development Zone has been recognized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology as a national demonstration base for new-type industrialization. Presently, Tieling is actively promoting the establishment of several pivotal development bases, including an advanced manufacturing hub within the urban circle, a center for the transformation and development of the energy industry, a modern agricultural and agro-processing base, a "Happy Culture" experiential center, and a node-based modern logistics land-port base.
Tieling is also a city known for its openness and inclusivity, having forged economic and trade partnerships with over 60 countries. Renowned domestic and international enterprises like LEONI Group, Haldex Group, R&F Properties, Wanda Group, and Juxinyuan Group have chosen to establish their presence in Tieling.
Tieling boasts a rich cultural heritage and is hailed as the birthplace of the Liao and Jin cultures. Notable figures from Tieling include Gao E, the renowned author credited with writing the final forty chapters of Dream of the Red Chamber; Li Chengliang, a prominent general in Eastern Liaoning of the Ming Dynasty; Gao Qipei, the founder of Chinese finger painting; and Duang Muhongliang, a distinguished writer and expert on the novel of "Dream of the Red Chamber."
Established in 1658, Yingang Academy stands as the oldest academy in Northeast China. In 1910, China’s first Premier Zhou Enlai embarked on his educational journey here at the age of 12, fondly referring to Tieling as his "second hometown." Additionally, in 1962, Lei Feng lived and worked in Tieling for 170 days.
Tieling Errenzhuan, a traditional song-and-dance duet popular in Northeast China, has earned recognition as one of the first national intangible cultural heritages. Meanwhile, Yangko opera, originating from Tieling, has evolved into a distinctive genre within Chinese drama. Tieling has also been the birthplace of numerous nationally acclaimed comedians and internet celebrities, contributing significantly to the cultural landscape of the country.
