  Benxi, located in Liaoning Province in northeast China, is a nationally renowned industrial city. Once celebrated for its abundant coal and iron resources, the city has transformed into one of the country's key centers for iron, steel, and raw material manufacturing, as well as an emerging hub for the biomedical industry. Shenyang Xiantao International Airport is only 53 kilometers away, while Dandong Port and Yingkou Port are located at distances of 165 and 179 kilometers respectively.   The city, nestled in a temperate humid monsoon climate zone, boasts abundant natural resources, including numerous towering mountains and lush forests. With a forest coverage rate of 76.31%, it is hailed as a "natural oxygen bar" and an "ecological oasis". Serving as a crucial water conservation area in Liaoning Province, it acts as a vital ecological shelter, with its centralized drinking water sources achieving a 100% standard compliance rate and consistently ranking among the top in water environmental quality statewide. The Huanrenhun River Reservoir and Guanyinge Reservoir in Benxi County have emerged as pivotal drinking water sources for the entire province. Renowned as the "City of Traditional Chinese Medicine," Benxi hosts over 1,117 types of Chinese herbal medicine, with reserves exceeding 20,000 tons. With more than 1 million mu (about 164,736.92 acres) dedicated to Woodsgrown Ginseng cultivation, it leads Liaoning Province in both variety and yield of Chinese herbal medicine. Particularly, ginseng, Asarum heterotropoides var. mandshuricum, and Schisandra chinensis (Turcz) Baill, are esteemed as the "Three Treasures of Liaoning Medicine."

  Benxi, characterized by its unique geological features and abundant mineral wealth, has identified a total of 46 varieties across 8 categories including iron ore, silica, limestone, and calcite. At the forefront stands the Benxi Dataigou Iron Mine, recognized as the largest individual iron ore deposit worldwide. Presently, it boasts a confirmed reserve of 5.2 billion metric tons, with expected reserve of over 10 billion metric tons. Additionally, the Sishanling Iron Mine boasts a confirmed reserve of 2.48 billion metric tons. Of significant note is the reputation of Benxi's iron ore as "ginseng iron", attributed to its exceptionally low phosphorus, sulfur, and impurity levels.

  Benxi Iron & Steel Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Ansteel Group, is a century-old "Meritorious Enterprise of the People’s Republic of China". It houses the world's widest strip hot rolling mill, boasting a width of 2,300mm, alongside Northeast China's largest blast furnace with a capacity of 4,747 cubic meters. Its two cold rolling mills and four hot rolling mills are equipped with cutting-edge technology, positioning them at the forefront globally. The company offers a diverse portfolio of over 60 product varieties and 7,500 specifications, including wire rods, rebar, ductile iron pipes, special steel, hot-rolled plates, cold-rolled plates, galvanized plates, color-coated plates, and stainless steel. Its annual production capacity of 20 million metric tons of high-quality steel solidifies its position as a cornerstone of industrial excellence.

  The biomedical industry has charted a transformative course for Benxi, transitioning it from a resource-centric city to an innovation-driven hub. Within Benxi’s high-tech zone, significant efforts have been devoted to nurturing a thriving biomedical industry cluster. This endeavor has borne fruit in the form of advancements across pharmaceuticals, traditional Chinese medicine, biopharmaceuticals, food and health products, medical devices, and related sectors, thereby establishing a robust industrial chain. The cluster has attracted 186 biomedical industry projects, boasting 848 registered and transferred pharmaceutical and medical device varieties. Many enterprises have made substantial investments in Benxi, such as Shanghai Pharmaceuticals Co Ltd, Shanghai Green Valley Pharmaceuticals Co Ltd, Beijing Tongrentang, Liaoning Chengda Group, Eisai Co. Ltd.(JAPAN), and Daewoong Pharmaceutical(South Korea).

  Benxi is renowned as the "Wonderland in the eastern part of Yan State", boasting six major attractions: "wonderful caves, famous mountains, beautiful lakes and rivers, hot springs, maple leaves, and folk customs". It has earned titles such as "China's Excellent Tourism City", "China's Maple Leaf City", and "China's Hot Spring City". Presently, we have 3 provincial-level tourist resorts and 51 national A-level scenic spots including Water Cave, the Grand Canyon, Five Lady Mountain, Maple Valley, Guanshan Lake, and Tieshashan Mountain.

  Over the next five years, Benxi will prioritize four strategic areas: enhancing the ecological environment, developing industries, nurturing talent, and improving people's well-being.
