  Dalian, a coastal city situated at the southernmost tip of the Liaodong Peninsula in Northeast China, is bordered by the Yellow Sea and the BohaiSea. It overlooks the vast expanse of the Northeast China Plain on the north, while across the sea to the south lies the ShandongPeninsula. Dalian is a pivotal city renowned for its ports, trade, industry, and tourism.   Dalian possesses remarkable advantages in terms of its openness to the world. Positioned at the heart of the Northeast Asia Economic Circle and playing a crucial role in the "Belt and Road Initiative," Dalian has emerged as a key gateway for international engagement in Northeast China. The city is home to three national-level economic and technological development zones, as well as three Special Customs Controlling Zones, earning prestigious titles such as the "foremost development zone in China" for its Economic and Technological Development Zone. Additionally, Dalian High-tech Zone is recognized as a national-level high-tech industrial park, while the Jinpu New Development Zone holds the distinction of being both the nation's 10th and Northeast China's first national-level new development zone. In 2017, the Dalian Area of the Liaoning Pilot Free Trade Zone was established. Furthermore, several high-level openness zones have been approved, including the Sino-Japanese (Dalian) Local Development Cooperation Demonstration Zone, a national pilot zone for innovative development of service trade, a national innovation demonstration zone for promoting import trade, and one of the first national bases for digital service export.

  Dalian boasts a robust industrial foundation and a comprehensive array of industrial sectors. Out of the 41 industrial categories listed by China, the city is home to 35. It has cultivated a comprehensive industrial system centered around key industries such as green petrochemicals and high-end equipment manufacturing, supplemented by emerging sectors like new-generation information technology, new materials, and life safety, with an industrial scale approaching one trillion. It is home to leading enterprises like Hengli Group, Dalian Shipbuildling Industry co.Itd, and CRRC DALIAN CO, LTD. Dalian has previously achieved milestones such as constructing China's first 10,000-ton-class vessel and its first aircraft carrier, among other nationally significant achievements. It holds prestigious titles as one of the first national software industry bases, the country's inaugural service outsourcing base, and the first city to showcase software intellectual property rights protection.

  DalianPort and DalianInternationalAirport are well-connected. Situated as a strategically significant port in Northeast Asia, DalianPort possesses a network of 105 shipping routes, including 92 foreign trade routes and 13 domestic routes. These routes span over 300 ports across more than 160 countries worldwide, handling over 90% of the containerized foreign trade transportation in Northeast China. Dalian Port ensures full coverage of core ports of RCEP member countries and ranks among the top in China in terms of container shipping density on routes to Japan and South Korea.

  DalianInternationalAirport operates 190 routes connecting with 123 cities both domestically and internationally. It offers most extensive connectivity in Northeast China for both domestic and international flights, leading in international business volume and ranking among the top three in terms of routes, passenger volume, and flight frequency to Japan. The construction of the new DalianAirport, set to be the world's largest offshore airport based on an artificial island, is poised to significantly stimulate economic growth in the Northeast and Bohai Rim regions.

  Efficient and Convenient Financial Services: Recognized as a strategically significant regional financial center by the state, Dalian has maintained its inclusion in the "Global Financial Centers Index (GFCI)" for 19 consecutive years, solidifying its position among the 12 mainland cities of China. Home to a diverse array of 509 financial institutions and local financial organizations, the city also accommodates 32 domestically listed companies. Dalian Commodity Exchange, the exclusive futures exchange in Northeast China, offers a comprehensive portfolio of 21 bulk commodity futures and 13 options, including pioneering endeavors like the world's first physically delivered iron ore futures and the domestic debut of live delivery livestock futures, notably pig futures. It holds a pivotal role as a global marketplace for agricultural products, plastics, coal, and iron ore futures.

  Dalian is abundant in scientific and educational talent, recognized as a national innovative city and a pioneering advocate for intellectual property rights protection. Additionally, it serves as a national demonstration zone for independent innovation. With esteemed institutions like Dalian University of Technology and 30 other universities, alongside 14 key scientific research institutions such as the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP), Dalian stands as a thriving academic hub. Boasting 30 academicians hailing from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and ChineseAcademy of Engineering (CAE), and a vibrant student population of 400,000, the city epitomizes academic excellence. It hosts over 110 national-level scientific and technological innovation institutions, including national key laboratories, along with 271 provincial-level counterparts such as provincial key laboratories and technology innovation centers. Possessing more than 4,700 high-tech enterprises, Dalian contributes significantly to the development of key technologies and core components with independent intellectual property rights, supporting the construction of major national projects such as the Shenzhou 11 manned spacecraft, the Long March 5 High-thrust rocket, China's Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Telescope(FAST), and the 982 drilling platform.

  Dalian is home to numerous exhibitions, renowned as a cultural and tourist destination. With over 130 exhibitions annually, the city's global standing continues to ascend, particularly with flagship events like the "Summer Davos" and the "China International Software and Information Service Fair." It also hosts the "Dalian International Maritime Exhibition," a significant maritime event in Northeast Asia. Blessed with picturesque landscapes, the city stands as a premier coastal tourist resort. It boasts 58 national A-level tourist attractions, including the Jinshitan National Scenic Area in north Dalian and the DalianTigerBeachMarinePark, attracting visitors from both within the country and around the globe. Dalian enjoys mild winters and cool summers, offering stunning surroundings and abundant resources. Renowned for its top-quality fruits such as apples, yellow peaches, cherries, and seafood delicacies like sea cucumbers and abalones, it has garnered numerous accolades, including recognition as the "Global Most Livable City," "UN Environment Global 500," "China's Best Tourist City," and being named the "East Asian Cultural City" in 2024.
