On the morning of March 31, 2025, the China-Sweden Trade and Investment Forum was held in Stockholm. Ling Ji, Vice-Minister of Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and Deputy Representative of China International Trade, Jan Larsson, CEO of Business Sweden, and Ulf Pehrsson, Chairman of Sweden-China Trade Council (SCTC) attended the Forum and delivered speeches. More than 200 representatives from Chinese and Swedish enterprises, chambers of commerce and business associations turned the Forum into a dynamic and vibrant convergence.
Ling Ji stated that China and Sweden have long-standing ties and gotten closely connected by the ancient Maritime Silk Road. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Sweden 75 years ago, the bilateral economic and trade cooperation has yielded fruitful results. The two sides should stay true to the founding principles of establishing diplomatic relations based on mutual respect, equality and mutual benefits. At the same time, we should deeply tap the potential for cooperation in scientific and technological innovation, seize the opportunities brought by green transformation, and incorporate green concepts throughout cooperation. So we will jointly write a new chapter in the economic and trade relations between China and Sweden.
Ling Ji highlighted that the long-term positive trend of China's economy remains unchanged, and that the Chinese government's determination to unswervingly expand high-level opening-up also remains unshaken. At present, the global landscape is complex and challenging by rising unilateralism and protectionism. Therefore, China and Sweden, as well as China and Europe, should firmly safeguard multilateralism and free trade, and inject more positive energy into building an open world economy.
Jan Larsson, CEO of Business Sweden, and Ulf Pehrsson, Chairman of Sweden-China Trade Council (SCTC), stated that Swedish enterprises are optimistic about the promising prospects of China’s economy. They not only regard China as one of the most important markets and production bases, but also increasingly view China as an important R&D center. The Swedish side will firmly support free trade, promote a stronger cooperation between enterprises of the two countries, bring to fruition the Sweden's concepts of sustainable development, technologies, and innovations in China. Additionally, the Swedish side will support Chinese enterprises to invest in Sweden, and contribute to achieving more practical results in bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
Representatives from Chinese regional commerce departments and industrial parks presented investment opportunities on site. Enterprises from both China and Sweden engaged in industry-oriented matchmaking and negotiations, centering on such fields as green economy, intelligent manufacturing, medical and health care, and trade services.
