On March 20, 2025, Hao Peng, Secretary of the CPC Liaoning Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of People’s Congress of Liaoning Province, together with Wang Xinwei, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Liaoning Provincial Committee and Acting Governor of Liaoning Province, met with the delegation led by Ton Büchner, the Chair of the Board of Directors of Swiss-based Burckhardt Compression Group, in Shenyang.

  On behalf of the CPC Liaoning Provincial Committee and the People’s Government of Liaoning Province, Hao Peng and Wang Xinwei extended a warm welcome to Ton Büchner and his delegates. Hao Peng stated that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Switzerland. Under the guidance of the strategic consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and Swiss leaders, the China-Switzerland Innovative Strategic Partnership has been remarkably deepening. So far, Burckhardt Compression Group has become the largest manufacturer of reciprocating compressor with the most competitive edges worldwide. In recent years, Burckhardt Compression Group has leveraged Liaoning's robust industrial foundation of compressors to set up its production base. Its high-end compressor products under the Shenyang Yuanda brand have served the global markets. Notably, last year the conference of Burckhardt Compression Group was not held in Switzerland for the first time, but just in Shenyang, Liaoning. Such a decision positively indicates that Burckhardt Compression Group has full confidence in Liaoning and stays committed to investing in Liaoning. That will further enhance economic cooperation between our two countries. Currently Liaoning is fully implementing the three-year action plan for revitalization and new breakthroughs in all aspects, and keeping aligned with President Xi Jinping's crucial instructions. Through strenuous efforts, Liaoning’s economy has registered an increasingly improved performance with good momentum for growth. The GDP of Liaoning has exceeded the national level for eight consecutive quarters. During the special inspection tour in Liaoning before the Spring Festival, President Xi encouraged people in Liaoning to take the lead in achieving revitalization and new breakthroughs of Northeast China in all aspects, and strive to write a Liaoning chapter of Chinese path to modernization. Liaoning has set the goal of achieving a GDP growth rate over 5% for 2025. Liaoning is confident in maintaining its favorable momentum of exceeding the national average, and in achieving a decisive success in the three-year action plan. At the recently concluded China’s NPC and CPPCC sessions, the Government Work Report proposed measures to facilitate the better development of foreign-funded enterprises. Liaoning will also further expand the high-level opening-up. Liaoning welcomes foreign-funded enterprises, including Burckhardt Compression Group, to invest and boost businesses in Liaoning. Liaoning’s compressor industry boasts a sound industrial ecosystem and a complete supply chain system. It is hoped that Burckhardt Compression Group will deepen cooperation, expand investment, and drive more upstream and downstream enterprises to invest and start businesses in Liaoning. The Group will make joint efforts with Liaoning to unlock the full potential of our cooperation, open up new areas and new arenas, and achieve mutual benefits and win-win results.

  Ton Büchner expressed his gratitude to Liaoning for its support to Burckhardt Compression Group and commended Liaoning on its latest heights in economic and social progress. He further elaborated that Burckhardt Compression Group, founded in 1844, had manufactured the world’s first reciprocating compressor. The Group has been undoubtedly recognized as the world top leader by far in the area of reciprocating compressor. Ton Büchner highlighted Liaoning’s strengths, including its robust industrial foundation, abundant scientific and technological innovation resources, strategic geographical advantages, and continuously optimized business environment. He reiterated that Burckhardt Compression Group is upbeat on Liaoning's economy and thrives for the long term in Liaoning's market. The Group plans to expand the production capacity of its Shenyang facility, aims to optimize its operations, and intends to promote the R&D and manufacturing of high-end products in Liaoning. Furthermore, the Group will make more contributions to the high-quality development of Liaoning's equipment manufacturing industry.
